Profiles

Robert Allen was the Association’s National President from 1995-2001. He was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership in 1997. He is a Director of Whetstone Pty Ltd.

Aramais Aroustian has been a member of the NSW Branch Committee since 1994, serving in various roles on the Branch Executive. He is a self employed consultant.

Karina Bader has been a member of the National Assembly since 2003 and President of the Victorian Branch since 2005. She worked for a number of years as a geologist, and is currently employed by the Melbourne City Council as a Research Analyst.

Phil Bambrick has been a member of the Qld Branch Committee since 1998, Qld Branch President since 1995
and a member of the National Assembly since 2004. He is employed as a self employed consultant working mainly in local government.

Les Black was the Pharmacist Division Secretary from 1992-2002 and the Pharmacist Division’s Queensland President from 1989-2002. He is employed as a Pharmacy Manager.

Mark Broadley was Secretary of the Tasmania Branch 1990-2000. He is employed by the Hobart City Council as Manager Traffic Engineering.

Greg Butler was Secretary of the Transport Division 2000-04. He is employed by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

Michael Cahill has been a member of the NSW Branch Committee since 1984, NSW Branch Secretary since 1994 and a member of the National Assembly since 2000. He is currently employed as a professional engineer at EnergyAustralia.

Jenny Callaghan was a member of the Victorian Committee of Management of the Salaried Pharmacists Association (SPA) from 1990 and President of the Pharmacist Division of APESMA from 1997-2005 and National Assembly 1997-2005. Jenny was a major proponent of the amalgamation of SPA with APESMA in 1997.

Nicole Campbell was National Vice President 2003-05 having been a member of National Assembly 1998-2005 and the NSW Branch Committee 1997-2005. She is employed as Manager, Environmental Policy with the Sydney Olympic Park Authority.

Steve Carmichael was President of the LGEA (NSW) 1996-99 and a member of the National Assembly 1996-2002. He is a consulting engineer in local government.

Alice Chaffey has been Vice President of the NSW Branch since 2004 and a member of the Branch Committee since 2002. Prior to that she was a member of the Tasmanian Branch Committee. Alice has been a key player in the establishment of the NSW Graduate Network. She is a professional engineer with EnergyAustralia.

Noel Chapman was Secretary of the LGEA (NSW) 2004-06. He is employed as Manager Civil Works at Nambucca Shire Council.

Soren Cicchini has been WA Branch Vice President since 2005. He is employed by KBR.

Simone Collins was the WA Branch Secretary in 2002 and has been a member of the WA Branch Committee since 2000. Simone remains a scientist representative on the WA Branch Committee. Simone is a web developer at the University of Western Australia.

Shane Collinson was Tasmanian Branch Vice President 2003-04 and Branch President in 2005. Shane is currently a Project Manager at Transend Networks.

Ian Cooper was Tasmanian Branch Vice President 1996-2000. He was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership in 1993. He is employed by the Department of Infrastructure and Resources.

Ern Cottman was Qld Branch President 1996-99, a National Assembly member 1996-2001 and National Senior Vice President 1996-2000. He was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership of the Association in 2000. Ern is employed by WS Atkins in the United Kingdom.

Lex Cunningham has been a member of the WA Branch Committee since 1995, was a National Assembly member 1998-99 and has been WA Branch President since 2006. He is a consulting engineer.

Maria Cyculka was the Secretary of the Pharmacist Division 1996-2005. She is currently employed as a pharmacist.

Greg Davis has been Group President of the NSW Department of Natural Resources since 1997. He is employed as a Senior Natural Resources Officer.

Noel Edgell was LGEA Secretary from 1992-2002. He was employed by Kiama Municipal Council as a Director Engineering until his retirement.

Roberta Esbitt has been the Association’s National Secretary since 2005 and was National Vice President 2003-04 and President of the Architects Division 2003-05. Roberta is a property developer.

Geoff Follett has been Sydney Water Group President since 2003 and a member of the Group Committee since 1997. He is a Project Manager with Sydney Water.

Jillian Reynolds Formentin was a member of National Assembly from 2002-2005 and President of WA Branch 2001-05. She is employed by SKM as a Risk and Safety Engineer.

Michael Foster was a Victorian Branch Committee Member 1994-2001 and National Assembly Member 1996-2001. He is currently employed with the ANZ Banking Group as an IT specialist.

Ken Frazer was a member of National Assembly from 1997-2005, Secretary of the NT Branch 1996-2001 and Branch President 2003-2004. He is currently employed by Burns & Roe Worley P/L as a Project Manager.

Colin Freeman was NT Branch President 1997-2002. He is employed as an Executive Engineer.

Mike Griffin was a member of the Association’s National Assembly from 1986-2001, a member of the National Board 2000-01 and Queensland Branch President 1993-95. He was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership in 2001. He is employed by Energex as General Manager, Networks.

Tim Griffin has been the Association’s National President since 2005, a member of the National Assembly since 1999 and Queensland Branch President 2001-2005. He is employed as Regional Manager, Central Queensland with the Queensland Department of Transport.

Paul Gysslink was President of the Salaried Pharmacists Association 1997-98 and a key player in the negotiations to amalgamate with APESMA to form the Pharmacist Division of APESMA. He is the Professional Issues and Research Officer of the Pharmacist Division.

Col Hackney has been a member of the NSW Branch Committee since 1977 and is currently Vice President of the Committee. He was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership in 1992. He is employed by Country Energy.

Brian Hamond has been Vic Branch Secretary since 2005 and a member of National Assembly since 2006. Brian is employed by Terra Firma Pty Ltd as a Senior Property Manager.

John Highfield has been a member of the National Assembly since 1996 and President of the ABC Executives Division since 1996. He was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership in 2004. John was employed by the ABC until his retirement.

Nanette Hill has been Vice President of the SA Branch Committee since 2006 and was a member of the National Assembly in 2005. Nanette has been one of the Association’s most effective member recruiters. She is employed by the IMVS in Adelaide.

Martin Hoelscher was the Qld Branch Secretary 1996-99, President 1999-2000 and National Assembly 1998-2001. He is employed by Energex.

Trevor Horman was a member of National Assembly 1983-1990 and 1999-2003. He was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership of the Association in 2001. He is a Senior Manager with the NT Power and Water Corporation.

Dennis Hosken was a member of the Victorian Branch Committee from 1990-2002, Secretary 2000-2002 and National Assembly 1988-2003. Dennis was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership in 2004. He is retired.

David Humble has been President of the Telstra and Australia Post Senior Managers Division since 1999. He is employed by Australia Post.

Bill Jackson has been SA Branch President since 1998 and a member of the National Assembly since 1996. He was SA Branch Secretary 1996-97. Bill is employed by ElectraNet SA.

Clay Jacobson has been Secretary of the Collieries Staff Division Committee since 2003 and a member of the National Assembly since 2003. He is a self employed consultant.

Nick Jatan has been on the Tasmanian Branch Executive since 2002. He is an Engineer/IT Specialist at Hydro Tasmania.

Col Jones has been the Association’s National Treasurer since 2001 and a member of National Assembly since 1982. He has also been on the NSW Branch Executive since 1982. He was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership in 1999. He is employed by Telstra as an IT specialist.

Darien Just has been SA Electricity Industry Group Secretary since 2000 and was Group President 1995-97.

Jason Livingston was Qld Branch Secretary in 2002 and Qld Branch Vice President in 2003, 2004 and 2006. He became a National Assembly member in 2006. Jason is employed by Queensland Rail.

Geoff March has been a member of the Pharmacist Division Committee since 1983 and as President since 2005 and a member of National Assembly since 1997. He is a lecturer at the University of South Australia.

Dennis Martin was President of the Architects Division 1997-98. Dennis is an Architect with Dennis Martin & Associates.

Joe McKay has been National Vice President since 2002 and NSW Branch President since 2003. He is employed by BlueScope Steel.

Greg McMahon was the Qld Branch President 1996-99 and a National Assembly member 1996-2005. He is self employed.

Col Miller was the Act Branch President 1997-98 and a member of the National Assembly. He is an IT consultant.

Rob Miller has been President of the Managers and Professionals Division since its amalgamation with APESMA in 2004 and was President of the Managers and Professionals Association since 1996. He is employed as an environmental engineer with Consolidated Energy.

John Minchin has been Tasmanian Branch Vice President since 2005 and a member of the Branch Committee since 2001. He is employed by Hydro Tasmania.

Les Noble was WA Branch President from 1997-2000 and a member of National Assembly from 1996-2003 and 2005. He is employed by Western Power.

Brian Norris has been the President of the WA Main Roads Group Committee since 2000, WA Branch Secretary since 2005 and a member of the National Assembly since 2006. He is a Project Director with Main Roads Western Australia.

Martin O’Donoghue was the Secretary of the Architects Division 1997-2004. He is employed by Vurtin Bathgate & Somers Pty Ltd as an architect.

Lew Oldfield has been LGEA (NSW) President since 2001 and a member of National Assembly since 2001. He is employed as the Director Infrastructure with Cessnock Council.

Peter Olthof was a member of the National Assembly in 1996 and has been Secretary of the Telstra and Australia Post Senior Managers Division Committee since 1997. He is employed by Australia Post.

Dave Ormiston has been the Association’s RTA (NSW) Group President since 2001 and has been active in the RTA Group since the 1980s. He is the Technical Development Manager with the RTA.

Leyon Parker was Tasmanian Branch President 1996-2004 and a Branch Committee member since 1992. Leyon is currently Group Manager Road and Traffic Engineering at the Hobart City Council.

Rod Parry was a member of the National Assembly 1996-2005, President Victorian Branch 1999-2004 and a member of the Professional Scientists Committee 1984-1996. Rod is currently Laboratory Manager at Chisholm Institute.

Robyn Porter has been a member of the ACT Branch Committee since 1996 and ACT Branch President since 2000, and Women’s Position representative on the National Assembly from 2000-05. She is employed as a management consultant.

Tony Reidy has been Secretary of the Managers and Professionals Division in 2004 and 2006. He is employed by the Royal Hobart Research Foundation as an Executive Director.

Olaf Reinhold was a member of the National Assembly 1996-99, SA Branch President 1992-97 and Branch Vice President since 2004. He is employed by DSTO.

Ray Rienstra has been a member of the CSD Branch Committee since 1989 and President since 2003, and a member of National Assembly since 2003. Ray is an accountant employed in the coal industry.

Allan Roberts has been the Association’s Qantas Group President since 2000, and was Group Secretary 1998-2000. He is employed with Qantas as Chief Engineer, Mechanical Systems.

Nick Ronan was a member of the National Assembly 1991-99, and National Vice President from 1995-99. He was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership of the Association in 2000.

Peter Rose has been a member of National Assembly since 1991 and was a member of the Victorian Branch Committee 1985-2004, holding the positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. He recently retired.

Andrew Russack has been a member of National Assembly since 2005 and SA Branch Committee since 2001 and Branch Treasurer since 2003. He has been President of the SA Electricity Industry Group since 1998. He is employed by ETSA Utilities.

Rocco Sergi served on the National Assembly as the Architects Division representative for four years and was the Treasurer for the Architects Division for several years. He is currently working in Dubai.

Ian Shannon has been a member of the NSW Branch Committee since 1996 and is currently the President of the Association’s Group Committee at the Department of Environment and Conservation.

Gino Siccone was SA Branch Vice President 1999-2005. He is employed at the Flinders Medical Centre.

Gerry Smith was President of the Transport Division 1997-2001. He is employed by the State Rail Authority as a Special Projects Manager.

Richard Smith was a member of the NSW Branch Committee 1981-2004 including several years as Vice President. He is an engineer with the Department of Natural Resources.

John Stirling was Secretary of the SA Medical Scientists Committee for a number of years. John recently retired.

Greg Sutherland was the Association’s National Secretary 1997-2003 and served as NSW Branch President 1996-2002, having been Branch Secretary 1975-96. He was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership in 1990.

Bradley Sutton has been the Qld Branch Secretary since 2003. He employed by Queensland Rail.

Pam Sykes was a member of the SA Branch Committee 1998-2005 and an active member of the Medical Scientists Committee in SA.

Tony Todd has been Secretary of the Transport Division since 1998 and a member of National Assembly since 1998. He is employed by Mainco.

Dario Tomat has been the Association’s Senior Vice President since 2001, and was National Treasurer 1997-2000. He has been a member of the Tasmanian Branch Committee since 1987. He was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership in 2003.

Barry Tonkin was a member of the WA Branch Executive for 19 years including six years as Branch President and serving on National Assembly 1986-2005. He was National President of the Association from 2002 to 2005. Barry was made a Distinguished Life Member in 2001.

Alan Toohey has been a member of National Assembly since 1989, an ACT Branch Committee Member since 1988 and Branch Secretary since 1997. He is currently employed by the ACT Government Department of Territory and Municipal Services as a Quality Manager.

Peter Van Lint was President of the Architects Division 1999-2002. He is employed as a site architect at Lyons.

Jane Waldock has been a member of National Assembly from 1992-2003 and since 2005, a member of the National Board 2000-03, and since 2006 and was Victorian Branch President 1994-98. She is a Customer Services Engineer at Manningham City Council.

Ron Wall was a member of the Victorian Branch Biomedical Engineers Group from its beginning in 1982 until 2005, serving as President of the Group from 1982-85 and 1992-2004. Ron was a key figure in the negotiation of the first award for Biomedical Engineers. He recently retired from the position of Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

David Warnock was Secretary of the WA Branch Committee from 1997-2001. David is currently employed by Whitsunday Shire Council.

Peter Wiehe has been a workplace representative since 1996 and was also Secretary of the Hydro Tasmania Group for a number of years. Peter’s current position is Principal Electrical Engineer at Hydro Tasmania.

Mike Wilson has been SA Branch Secretary since 1998 and a member of the Branch Committee since 1989.


Staff

Dominic Angerame has been the Surveys & Website Manager since joining the Association's staff in 1993.

Jeff Artis is a Senior Advisor in the Association's Member Support Centre having recently stepped down after 17 years as Director Victoria. Jeff joined the Association's staff as an Industrial Officer in 1984.

Jude Blackwood has been General Manager Membership & IT since 2003, and was Manager IT since joining the Association in 2001.

Catherine Bolger has been the Director of the Collieries Staff Division since 2004, having joined the Association's staff in 1992.

Simon Christensen has been General Manager Business Services with Chifley Business School since joining the staff in 2004.

John Cunningham was the Director SA from 1989 to 2003, having joined the Association's staff as a Senior Industrial Officer in 1987.

Neil Edwards has been the Chief Executive of Chifley Business School since 2005.

Geoff Fary has been the Executive Director Industrial Relations since joining the Association’s staff in 2003.

Gina Favaloro has been General Manager Operations with Chifley Business School since joining the staff in 2000.

Ian Johnston was the Director WA from 1991 until his retirement in 2003.

Roger Lee has been the Association's Director Finance since joining the staff in 1981.

Andrew McCauley has been the General Manager of the Association's recruitment business, ETM Placements since 1998.

Don Moss has been the Director WA since 2004, having joined the Association's staff as an industrial officer in 2001.

Bruce Nadenbousch was the Association’s Director Industrial Relations from 1991 until his part-retirement in 2003. Bruce was initially appointed as Principal Industrial Officer in 1989. He was awarded a Distinguished Life Membership of the Association in 2003.

Russell Noud has been the Director ACT since joining the Association's staff in 1998.

Martin O'Connell has been the Director NSW since joining the Association's staff in 1990.

Cheryl Patten has been the General Manager, Member Services since 1991, having originally joined the staff as the Office Supervisor in the Melbourne Office in 1983.

Darryl Pyrke has been the Director, Tasmania since 1996, having joined the Association's staff as an industrial officer in 1993.

Penny Tovey has been the Director Queensland since joining the Association's staff in 2001.

John Vines has been the Association's Chief Executive since 1984, having joined the Association's staff in 1980 as an Industrial Officer and then as Senior Industrial Officer in 1981.

Erin Wood has been the Association's Director Professional Services since 2000, having previously been an Industrial Officer and Senior Industrial officer 1994-98.
